MD-005 - APPLICATIONS OF COMPUTERS IN MEDICINE

SYLLABUS

The course covers at a basic/intermediate level the areas of Informatics applications in the various fields of medicine, both in terms of theoretical knowledge as well as at the level of practical usage of several software packages: anamnesis, coding, medical records, systems for support to medical decision making (prognosis, diagnosis and therapy), education and medical research applications in the laboratory, office and hospital, public health, social and preventive medicine. It includes the practical development of a small system to support medical decision by the students, using Artificial Intelligence techniques (rules-based system). the practical development of a small system to support medical education (tutorial or clinical simulation), using an authoring program, the development of an elementary clinical database system in medicine and the planning and execution of a medical data analysis using statistical software.
