MD-003 - INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL INFORMATICS

SYLLABUS

Structure and functioning of computers, its main peripherals, what is programming and what are programming languages. 16-bit microcomputers operation through the use of WINDOWS 95, to perform simple tasks such as examining the directory of a disk, list, copy and delete files, open and close windows, change the user interface, run programs, format disks , create and delete directories, etc. Simple programming in BASIC language, aimed at any medical application involving simple algebraic calculations and some kind of decision. Programs commonly used applications on 16-bit computers, and applications for tasks related to education, medical care and research: word processor, spreadsheet and graphing. Using elemental form of a teleprocessing system to perform literature online (BIREME system), and manage the references obtained using a specific program. Introduction to the Internet.

WORKLOAD

3 credits 45 hours. Hourly load of 3 hours per week.
